Titanium brake pad shims what are they and why should you fit them?
Titanium brake pad shims are made of a special titanium alloy which provides an extremely low thermal conductivity for a high degree of protection against the heat entering the brake system from friction heat generated by the pads and brake discs.
Its key function is to prevent brake fluid boiling and by stabilising the brake fluid temperature which in turn allows for a precise and consistent brake pedal feel thus eliminating the effects of a soft/long pedal and giving the driver greater confidence.
Additionally it will also help protect your brake caliper paint from damage and dust boots from heat damage ensuring caliper longevity.
Note:
Currently tested with Pagid, Ferodo, Project Mu and Endless R35 GTR Pads. Some other pads may require minor re profiling as well as for pad wear sensors if used.
